"This is a song who's bones came to me in a dream. A mad preacher walking down boarded up and abandoned city streets channeling the words of the talking heads in the media. I remember waking up and getting Shockey to come to the band room and we laid it out super quickly. lyrics came soon after. I know we had been listening to Adriano Celentano's "Prisencolinensinainciusol" and I wouldn't be surprised if that's what helped the song formulate in my dream. We certainly used it as a vibe inspiration for the verses. I slapped the name "Raggamuffin" on the song the first day because the definition of that word, "a ragged, disreputable person; tatterdemalion.", it was the mad street preacher I pictured in my head big stepping down the middle of vacated streets. It wasn't until we were getting ready to start uploading this song that we realized that the song should be called Markets. Listen to and read the lyrics and I think you'll see why. Enjoy our re-recording of this track with Josiah Griffin on drums" - Jacob Wayne
lyrics
Everybody's working so no reason here to get lost looking for love, the Economy's good and everybody's doing exactly as they should, the algorithm knew that the numbers added up all but the exception of you, at least they got their clean boots steppin on your neck until we calculate what to do!
just trying to get along, just trying to get bye
just trying to get along, just trying to get bye
Everybody wins and everybody grins, sometimes
Feeling so free, got that truth and liberty, sometimes
agree with me, you'll have the key, sometimes
do what you're told and you will grow old, sometimes
So I know it looks all crazy out there and there isn't much to share with you, but you gotta consider how the market might crash and leave us all destitute, the wheels are in motion for a huge promotion if you finally correct your truths, that we're all equal down here, climbing over bodies just to catch a fucking view.
just trying to get along, just trying to get bye
just trying to get along, just trying to get bye
Everybody wins and everybody grins, sometimes
Feeling so free, got that truth and liberty, sometimes
agree with me, you'll have the key, sometimes
do what you're told and you will grow old, sometimes
